Important Notice: As of 1 November 2023, Ms. Heba Hagrass (Egypt) has been appointed by the UN Human Rights Council as the current Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities.

Dr. Heba Hegras, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, met with Edel Bayslov, Deputy Prime Minister, during her official visit to Kyrgyzstan, and discussed the main issues related to the rights of persons with disabilities and improving the living conditions of persons with disabilities in the Kyrgyz Republic
The meeting was attended by international partners, including the Head of the Regional Office of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Central Asia, in addition to representatives of government bodies
It is noteworthy that the UN expert, Dr. Heba Hegras, is currently and until October 3, 2024, on an official visit to Kyrgyzstan as part of her duties as the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. During the visit, she will meet with a large number of senior Kazakh executive leaders and travel to Bishkek, Osh, Tokmok and other regions within the republic to meet with government authorities and national human rights institutions Persons with disabilities, their representative organizations, civil society, United Nations agencies and other stakeholders.
